Comfy Critters Home Vet?
Is your furry friend getting on in years?
I’m Dr Alison and I’m dedicated to helping senior pets (8+) live their best years with comfort, dignity and plenty of love.
No stressful car trips, rushed appointments, clinical coldness - just heartfelt, personalised care where you and your pet feel safest.
Unhurried, thorough appointments – plenty of time to discuss concerns and craft a tailored care plan.
Gentle, low-stress handling – patience, kindness, and fear-free techniques to keep your pet comfortable.
Personalised senior pet care – care that’s tailored to your pet’s age, health and unique needs - because no two pets are the same.
Compassionate end-of-life support – providing peaceful, dignified farewells in the comfort of your home.
Old age comes with challenges, but with the right care, it can also be full of love, comfort, wagging tails, and contented purrs. I’m here to help make that happen.
Our Veterinary Services
Comfy Critters Home Vet provides comprehensive and personalised vet care for your pets in the comfort of your home so we can make the later years their best years.
-
In home euthanasia
Saying goodbye is heartbreaking, but it can also be peaceful, beautiful, and full of love. At home, in their favourite spot, with you by their side—that’s how every pet deserves to leave. I’ll guide you through with warmth and compassion, giving you time, support, and a gentle, pain-free farewell.
-
Palliative & hospice care
When a cure isn’t possible, there’s still so much we can do. Palliative care focuses on keeping your pet comfortable, pain-free, and happy for as long as possible. Whether it’s managing pain, mobility, appetite, or anxiety, I’ll work with you to create a gentle, personalised plan that supports your pet’s needs at home.
-
Senior health & wellness consultations
Thorough, unhurried health assessments to catch issues early and keep your pet feeling their best. Your pet’s care plan will be tailored to their needs, combining gentle therapies, lifestyle adjustments, and natural treatments alongside medications to support their golden years.
-
Chronic disease management
Getting older comes with a few hiccups, but with the right care, senior pets can still enjoy life. I take a gentle, whole-body approach, combining medication (when needed) with natural therapies, nutrition tweaks and lifestyle changes to keep your pet comfy and feeling their best.
-
Holistic & Natural Therapies
There’s more to senior pet care than just medication. I offer a whole-body approach, incorporating options like CBD, nutrition, supplements, and other gentle therapies to support comfort, mobility, and wellbeing—now and into the future. As I expand these services, I’ll continue to provide treatments that complement traditional care, giving your pet the best of both worlds.
-
Telehealth consultations
Ongoing care doesn’t stop after a home visit. I offer a telehealth service for advice, follow-ups, and check-ins—so you always know you’re speaking with the same vet who understands your pet’s history. Whether you have questions about medications, changes in your pet’s health, or just need reassurance, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Meet Dr Alison
Caring for animals has always been at the heart of everything I do—but my journey to becoming a vet wasn’t a straight line. Before founding Comfy Critters Home Vet, I worked as a science communicator, a national park ranger, and a high school science teacher, sharing my love of animals and the natural world with people of all ages. My career has taken me from classrooms to the great outdoors, always with the goal of educating, helping, and making a difference.
As a vet, I bring a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of animal behaviour, and a love of teaching—helping pet owners feel confident and supported in caring for their pets.
I’ve worked in general practice, emergency clinics, and mobile vet care, but my passion lies in helping older pets stay comfortable, happy, and pain-free in their golden years.
When I’m not caring for pets, I’m lifting heavy things just because I can, hiking to soak up sunshine and views, and snorkelling in search of secret underwater worlds.
